Wolf, Rifkin, Shapiro, Schulman & Rabkin, LLP  Partner, Matthew Oster, has been named to the Daily Journal’s list of “2020 Top Labor & Employment Lawyers.” Mr. Oster leads the firm’s Litigation & Dispute Resolution department and heads the employment law practice. In addition to making the list, the Daily Journal featured Mr. Oster in a full-page profile piece.  In reference to the tremendous amount of new work brought on by the coronavirus, Mr. Oster said, “It’s like a brave new world. Everybody is feeling the effects. While everyone was frozen stiff, I was busier. Clients needed to know how to do layoffs, how to keep their employees safe. The FFCRA [Families First Coronavirus Response Act] gave leave time, and clients had to navigate that. There were questions about the Paycheck Protection Program. And we were also busy shutting down litigation when the courts were closing.”

Mr. Oster has extensive experience defending and prosecuting complex civil actions in the California federal and state courts with an emphasis on employment and class action matters. He also has considerable experience assisting on appeals to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the California Courts of Appeals.
